Simple to set up and inexpensive, but inconsistent speeds and limited range make it a poor long-term solution for improving home Wi-Fi.
The TP-Link TL-WA855RE promises to eliminate Wi-Fi dead zones, but real-world performance is inconsistent. Setup is quick, and it can improve coverage in smaller homes, but speeds drop significantly the farther you move from the main router.
For web browsing and email it's adequate, but streaming or gaming often exposes its limitations.
Mesh Wi-Fi systems have become much more affordable, making traditional range extenders like this increasingly difficult to recommend.
