Meridian Atlas 14

Thin laptops ask you to give something up, and it is almost always the keyboard. Travel gets shorter, feedback gets vaguer, and typing becomes a chore you tolerate for the sake of portability. The Atlas 14 is the rare exception — a machine light enough to forget in a bag with a keyboard you will actively look forward to using.

Meridian found the millimeters somewhere, because the keys have real depth and a crisp, damped bottom-out that makes long writing sessions a pleasure. The matte 3K display is the other standout: sharp, color-accurate, and completely unbothered by overhead lighting or a window at your back.

Performance is quietly excellent for everyday work, and the fanless design means it does all of it in silence. The compromises are the usual thin-laptop tax — two ports and a webcam that is fine rather than good — but they feel proportionate to what you gain.
